After playing the acoustic version of 'Umbrella', the band received a standing ovation prompting singer Simon Neil to say : "I don't know if it's really cool or really depressing that our biggest cheer was for a cover. I think it's really depressing." The performance began with the three members standing in the church pew in a triangle formation doing an a capella version of 'There's No Such Man As Crasp'. Neil confessed : "This is the longest acoustic set we've played, sorry if we're rubbish." Earlier in the evening, We Are Scientists played a set drawing heavily from their forthcoming album. The core due of Keith Murray and Chris Cain played with two new members following the departure of drummer Michael Tapper. Murray told the audience it was strange playing in the church he said : "This place remind me of 'The Exorcist'!" Towards the end of opener 'Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt' Murray and Cain did a skit which saw Cain's phone going off, and him taking the call. "Yea...fucking U2 man! It was amazing!" Murray introduced the new tracks by saying: "We're going to be playing a number of songs from our next album. If that pisses anyone off I'm sure there's a bar somewhere in town." The singer introduced 'It's A Hit' by saying : "This appeared on 'Now That's What I Call Music 3' that's how old it is!" Mencap's Little Noise Sessions continue tomorrow (November 24) with sets from The Kooks and The Pigeon Detectives.
