Jack White casts doubt over band's live future

Jack White has cast doubt over whether his band, The White Stripes, will ever play live again.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the guitarist/singer explained that any decision about touring again would be up to drummer Meg White after the the duo cancelled all their 2007 gigs as after the drummer suffered from acute anxiety.

"I don't know," he said, when asked whether the band's current hiatus would ever come to an end. "I guess it's up to Meg. The Beatles did it [quite touring but continued as a band]. I'm joking, but if we didn't ever tour again it wouldn't matter to me."

He added: "There are so many different aspects to being creative that it doesn't matter if one component is changed. It's been changing all the time since the band started.

"If something [touring] isn't working for you and it's detrimental to you, then you have to figure out a new way to attack it, a new way to look at it. I think that's what Meg's doing."
