She was diagnosed with a Type 1 Chiari malformation, a rare structural defect that affects the part of the brain that controls balance. Story continues below:
The EMI Group-owned label said Cash would return to the recording studio in early 2008 before hitting the road in the spring and finishing a book scheduled for publication in early 2009. Cash emerged from her father's giant shadow to carve out a career spanning almost 30 years.
