Created On: Friday, 18 January 2008 Hits: 69 ![]() Wet Wet Wet Bens Brother, the UK band who had their song used for a Dentyne Ice commerical in the States were the support for the night and were duly applauded after their rather short set. This band made a brief appearance on the extremely popular programme X FACTOR so they had built up a rather large following after that and probably even more so after the tour was announced, so the audience was not entirely a Wet Wet Wet one. The band were chosen presumably to fill the void left behind by bands catering for the slightly older/middle aged persons who prefer their soft rock and who probably complain at the arctic monkeys or kaiser chiefs being rather loud. Never had the very few men at the arena last night heard such female screams since John Prescott entered that Lingerie party and it was all because Marti Pellow and his cronies slowly appeared on stage amidst all the nu rave lights and equipment to the song of the night "I Feel It In My Fingers" to which the audience erupted and joined in a mini sing along, whilst Mr Pellow swaggered across the stage flirting and teasing the thosands of middle aged women by cavorting round the mic stand etc with a skimpy top and tight trousers on. The band's performance did more for them than their cheesy pop songs as they impressed with their relentless stories and jokes, which strangely enough from a band, were funny. The light display also did a lot to hide their less than energetic set till they decided to do several acoustic sets and that was the moment you realised, unfortunately they had average singing voices as it was very difficult to relate to any of the acoustic tracks they went through. Giving them credit where due, they were rather good with the audience and seemed like they had a thoroughly enjoyable time. |
