UB40's Ali Campbell to Quits Band

In a statement the band said that Campbell would be leaving to concentrate on solo material. "Ali Campbell has taken the decision to focus on his solo career and in doing so, could not give his full commitment to UB40,” the statement read. "The other band members of UB40 are naturally disappointed and saddened after being together as a band unit and as good friends and a family unit for almost 30 years." :: story continues below :: The group’s last shows with Campbell will take place during a tour of Australia, New Zealand and Uganda next month. The statement also made it clear that the remaining members of the band would continue to record and perform together following Campbell’s departure. And that ‘24/7’, the band’s new album, which features Campbell, will still be released.
