The show's fate was in jeopardy because Writers Guild of America members have been on strike since they failed to reach an agreement over internet royalties in November. The Writers Guild issued a statement today saying: "The Board of Directors of the Writers Guild of America, West has agreed to grant an interim agreement for this year's Grammy Awards in Los Angeles." The agreement makes it possible for the Grammys to go ahead as planned and follow its traditional format of live performances and artists presenting the awards. Recording Academy President Neil Portnow was thrilled with the news. "Having our talented writers on the team further ensures the highest level of creativity and innovation," he said. The Grammy Awards are set to take place in Los Angeles on February 10. |
