Poker Flat Recordings As if their ace Summer Sunday sessions aren't enough, now the people behind secretsundaze bring you a monthly party that highlights the best labels of the electronic underground.
This time round they've got Poker Flat plying you with the best of their wares on Thursday 21 February at Plastic People. Guido Schneider and Argy lead the charge. After the success of their first label showcase, with Moon Harbour at Plastic People last month, secretsundaze' James Priestley and Giles Smith have got their promoter's hats on again, as they bring in the big guns from Poker Flat for a midweek session of the highest quality.
Guido Schneider's a much-loved guest at secrestsundaze, while Argy's sure to mark his debut under the ss banner with a slick set; such is his reputation within the scene.
Guido Schneider's set at the Light Bar for ss last year stands up as 'one of our personal highlights of the year' in the words of a recent message from secretsundaze HQ, high praise indeed from two promoters who are renowned for their insistence on excellence - be that from their own DJ sets and their venues, as well as from their musical guests.
James and Giles get so much props because they put so much work into their events - a feeling Guido Schneider can no doubt appreciate, as a DC10 resident. There his style alternates from deep Chi-town tracks to the tougher resonant percussion that his own tracks like Super Sander and As Dry As I Can always deliver.
Meanwhile, Argy's a more recent highlight of the scene, but his deceptive youth (barely) hides some sublime talent - witness his Poker Flat releases Love Dose or Hide And Seek on the Plastic People soundsystem and you'll see where the future of this music is headed.
