Britney Spears' guest appearance on the US television sitcom 'How I Met Your Mother' Monday night (March 24) brought the programme its highest ratings since it debuted in 2005.
The show, which airs on CBS, attracted 10.6 million viewers, reports the Hollywood Reporter.
Spears, who played a receptionist at a tattoo removal clinic who falls in love with the show's main character, received critical acclaim for the brief performance.

This bodes well for Spears if she decides to take the starring role she was reportedly offered in a West End production of 'A Streetcar Named Desire'.
'Mother' was the pop star's first acting role since she appeared on another American sitcom, 'Will And Grace', in 2006.
