Brand New Fiction Drafts in Alex Smoke, Agoria and Rob Mello
Agoria
The Brand New Fiction boys are back with their monthly party at the Corsica Studios on Saturday 19 April, this time with ace French techno man Agoria and Scotland's Alex Smoke leading the charge to the Elephant 7 Castle, with London's own Rob Mello rocking along too.

Brand New Fiction has gone from strength to strength since its first party as a Super Furry Animals after-show with Andrew Weatherall and Evil Eddie Richards in the house. So now you can enjoy their 'big line-ups, away from the big clubs' ethos every third Saturday of the month, as they descend upon the wonderfully underground Corsica Studios for a proper rave, away from the over-priced drinks, surly doormen and sleazy tourists who can dominate the big London clubs.

As ever, the line-up mixes the old-school with the new very nicely indeed. This time there's Alex Smoke, who first came to prominence via the Scottish techno powerhouse that is Soma Records. Now releasing tracks on his own label Hum & Haw, his albums Incommunicado and Paradolia are essential listening and his sets are always worth catching, especially as his large amount of studio work makes them increasingly rare.

Agoria's been making fine techno since 1997, with his track Les Beaux Jours a particular treat for beat freaks, gaining support from the likes of his countryman Laurent Garnier and fellow techno DJs Richie Hawtin and Jeff Mills. Agoria's 2007 mix album At The Controls cemented his reputation as one of modern techno's big names.

Rob Mello's had a diverse career, producing the early Black Science Orchestra single, Where Were You, with Ashley Beedle and scoring the film Human Traffic. His DJs sets always mix the best underground house and techno to rock-solid effect.
