"Home Before Dark" (Columbia) is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed 2005 release "12 Songs," on which Rubin encouraged Diamond to play guitar.
The new album is led by the single "Pretty Amazing Grace," a live, in-studio video for which just went up on Amazon.com. Maines duets on the track "Another Day (That Time Forgot)."
In addition to Rubin, Diamond reunites with Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell and keyboardist Benmont Tench on the album. A new addition to the lineup is guitarist Matt Sweeney, best known for fronting indie rock outfit Chavez.
"Home Before Dark" will be available in a deluxe edition with a four-song DVD of Diamond performing tracks live in the studio. Among them is a cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "The Boxer," which is not on the album.
"12 Songs" debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, Diamond's best opening since 1982's "The Jazz Singer." The album has sold 570,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Diamond begins a monthlong European arena tour May 24 in Rotterdam, and is expected to hit North America later this summer.
