Potential Jurors Questioned in R. Kelly Trial
R. Kelly
Attorneys have begun questioning 150 potential jurors in the trial of US R&B star R Kelly – who stands accused of filming himself having sex with an underage girl.

The election of an impartial jury is seen as crucial in the trial, which Cook County Circuit Judge Vincent Gaughan described as “a high-profile case.”

Sixteen jurors will be selected in total, four of which will be alternates.

Kelly's lawyers failed in an attempt to have the trial postponed last Friday (May 9th) on the grounds of possible media intrusion.

The R&B star was arrested in February 2002 after a videotape was sent to his local paper the Chicago Sun-Times.

Kelly was later charged with 21 counts relating to child pornography, of which seven has since been dropped.

If found guilty the singer, who denies the charges, could face up to 15 years in prison.
