DJ Sasha Sheffield's mighty Urban Gorilla gets down with some serious talent this Sunday 25th May at Plug, with Sasha and Âme dropping in to showcase the best in house.
Alongside Switch knocking out some of his dirty bass-driven best, plus the mighty breaks master Krafty Kuts too. Bargain!
After six years of supplying the best in bass-heavy underground beats, the Urban Gorilla gang have gotten pretty good at booking serious music makers, with this line-up just one of many that is truly world-class.
UK break-beat godfather and dub don Tayo rates it as one of his favourite gigs, so you know they're doing something right.
Aside from the top DJ endorsements (Evil Nine are 'superresidents' of the club, so it's not just our dub-loving friend Mr T), Urban Gorilla is good at bringing old friends back to Sheffield, as well as inviting new ones along too. Sasha was last in the vicinity for NYE 1999.
We think he's recovered (just) from that mammoth engagement; his music has certainly changed from back in the late 90s. So it's definitely worth catching up with Mr Coe here, as he headlines Plug's main room with the Âme boys - possibly the best deep house DJs on the planet.
Over in the Neutral room (UG's usual home) there's the club's booty-rave offshoot, BUG, hosting the mighty Switch. His bass-heavy oddness is pure dance-floor gold, hence his popularity as producer du jour for the likes of MIA, Spank Rock and now Santogold.
He's joined by the equally feted Boy 8 Bit and Sheffield's own Run Hide Survive…plus there's a BBQ from 6pm with none other than Krafty Kuts kicking things off on the decks. Just make sure you pack some Rennies, indigestion is the last thing you need!
