Take That Take That's Gary Barlow has tacitly praised the musical 'Never Forget', which is based on his band and made its London West End debut last night (May 22).
Never Forget opened earlier this week at the Savoy Theatre in London and has been greeted by positive reviews.
"At first I thought it sounded horrible," Barlow told the BBC News. "But the reports I've seen have been really good so there must be something good in it. I'm just worried that they're better than us."
The musical is based on a fictional tale of a Take That Tribute band but includes a host of original Take That hits which were licensed by their record label, EMI.
Initially when details about the show emerged last year, members of Take That criticised the production, saying it was “100% nothing to do with Take That.”
However, at the Ivor Novello awards in London yesterday (May 22nd), Barlow said that friends have told him how much they liked the production.
"I don't really know a lot about it, but the people I know that have been really had a good time,” he added.
Take That won an Ivor Novello yesterday for ‘Shine’, which was the most played song of the last 12 months.
