Mark Knight Mark Knight's mixed the latest compilation from his label, Toolroom Records, himself, to show everyone who's not heard him playing his heart out at Ministry what he's all about.
And if you've heard him on the mix and liked it, now you've got this 2-CD collection to enjoy over and over again, as CD One plots the soundtrack of the night, while CD Two charts the present and future sound of Mark's label itself. And you can check out the sounds of Toolroom live at Toolroom Knights at Ministry of Sound on Saturday 14th June!
Holding down a residency at Ministry Of Sound is an honour that few DJs can achieve. And indeed, perhaps 'holding down' is the wrong term, as it has connotations of merely being adequate, not a term many would use for a DJ who's been rocking one of the biggest clubs in the world since he began his residency there in 2003. Then in 2006 his star really rose as he began the Toolroom Knights event, which continues to pack in both the good quality house & techno, and the crowds, in equal measure.
To describe volume four of the Toolroom Knights compilations, Knight explains, 'I wanted to create a shortened edition of my epic main room sets at Ministry of Sound, building from very soulful to full on techno, and with CD2 give people a taste of what's now and future on my label, Toolroom'.
Indeed, rather than just record the anthems of the moment, Knights made the effort to record a version of what he plays in the Ministry every month. Specially included are some chunks of sonic gold from the like of Peace Division and the Swedish House Mafia, alongside some dope deepness by Dennis Ferrer and some straight-up funk from D.Ramirez. Enjoy!
