M.I.A. The british female rapper announced a surprising news to her fans as in her concert at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival on Friday (June 13), she hinted her retirement.
The recently-engaged M.I.A. broke the news of her tour cancellation on stage at McCarren Pool in Brooklyn last week, confirming it later during an interview with NYmag.com at the MoMA in New York, saying she would utilise the time to record new material.
While on stage at the Bonnaroo Festival over the weekend she announced “This is my last show, and I’m glad I’m spending it with all my hippies.”
According to the New York Times, she repeated that it was her last show three times, and said “Thanks for coming to my last gig,” before leaving the stage.
Before announcing the shocking news, previously M.I.A. has also disappointed her fans after she decided to cancel her European tour, which supposedly started on June 9.
The rapper claims that the cancellation was triggered by her condition, stating that she was too exhausted to do the tour.
M.I.A., whose real name is Mathangi Maya Arulpragasam has a tendency to break news during her live sets, and even announced her engagement to Benjamin Brewer during a performance in Canada last month.
