And as usual, he can boast a cast of co-stars that would make any promoter envious, like Francois K, John Digweed, Dubfire, Josh Wink and Giles Peterson…and the mighty Green Velvet, his first guest on the opening night.
In very few places in the world is Tuesday night a party night, but then again the normal rules have never applied in Ibiza. Which is just as well, as this is the location of Space, one of the best-known clubs in the world, and thus the summer home of Carl Cox, probably the biggest DJ in the world.
When Coxy gets his 'friends' together, we're actually talking about some of the biggest names in clubland, deck-destroyers of the highest order - and we don't just mean in the realms of house & techno.
No indeed, Carl Cox & Friends has room in its heart for more than the conventional 4/4 beat, which is why it was one of the first big nights to bring the likes of drum'n'bass pioneers Roni Size and DJ Marky over to the White Island, alongside break-beat maestros Evil Nine and their Marine Parade godfather, Adam Freeland.
And this time round you'll catch them in good company; Evil Nine play on the final night on the 9th of September alongside Bushwacka! and Alex Metric on the Indoor Terrace, while Freeland shares the same locale with that old prog hero reborn, Dubfire, on the 29th of July.
Those looking for harder sounds will be happy to hear that Chris Liebing and Valentino Kanzayani are around on July 22nd and September 2nd respectively, while Garnier fans will see the ever-eclectic master play two sets on August 5th, both inside and on the terrace. Even Gilles Peterson is around on August 26th, playing one of his rare 'big room' sets inside. Such is the power of the Cox.
