Guitar Hero The Beatles Version May Be Released
The Beatles
Guitar Hero The Beatles version might be released and apparently a deal could be made within weeks.

Activision and MTV Games, who make Guitar Hero and Rock Band, both want to use the band's songs in a forthcoming title.

The reported deal, which could be worth millions, would require the approval of the Beatles copyright owners Apple Corps.

But the company, set up in 1968, has always asserted tight control over the bands music.

Until 2007, for example, the company was embroiled in a long running dispute with the computer manufacturer, Apple, over its name.

However, since Jeff Jones was appointed Apple Corps chief executive Beatles songs have appeared on American Idol and the Cirque du Soleil Love show.

Speaking to the Financial Times newspaper, Martin Bandier, Sony/ATV chief executive, said it was "only a matter of time before we see Beatles songs that are the original recordings in motion pictures, in television work, and yes, maybe even one day in a commercial."

Source close to the deal have said that an agreement "could be reached in a matter of weeks."
