Bloom Festival 2008 Announces Line Up
Roisin Murphy
Bloom's back again, with a line-up so good that it could make you cry - but only if you fail to get a ticket.

This year they've got Róisín Murphy, Maurice Fulton, Riton, Evil Nine and Ewan Pearson all ready and waiting to make you dance, and as you might have guessed, that's not all…see you at Seven Springs in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire between Friday 8 and Sunday August 10. You bring the tent, ok?

Bloom's been a good idea since its founders Olivia Chapman and Franc Gooding first thought it up. It was so good, in fact, that it was nominated as the Best New Festival of 2006 by the UK Festival Awards.

Not bad going in your first year, we would say. Now they return anew, with a new location - to combat 2007's feeling that it was 'a bit on the snug side' as they say on their website - and a wealth of talented musicians and other assorted hi-jinks.

As ever there's no room here to list it all, so we'll just give you the highlights. Róisín Murphy is always a treat, Maurice Fulton is a disco don of the highest, oddest calibre, and Ewan Pearson's Fabric mix was considered the best one of 2007.Dubstep don Benga is sure to be good, as is electro act Cagedbaby.

House-wise you can't knock Deepgroove, Chris Woodward or Dan Foat. Ronnie Size is going to be there, so D'n'B is represented (sorry!) while Justin Robertson and Kissy Sell Out showcase rave both old and nu.

Disco, the revitalised sound of 2008, makes a strong showing with the Lasermagnetic lads, the Unabombers presenting Electric Chair and the Itcysoul crew too. But if you're looking for something a bit dramatic, then you'll enjoy the Brand New Heavies and Shades Of Rhythm (now known as breaks heads the Drumattic Twins), both worth seeing even though their sounds couldn't be much more different. Still, people who love both acid-jazz and rave are the best ones to party with, in our opinion.
