Junkie XL Global Underground's summer lineup will be played on iPods well past the dog days of summer.
Out now, GU Mixed 3 is the latest installment in the promising GU Mixed series. One will be hard pressed to find a dull moment on this 54 track compilation. The musical palette ranges from Bob Sinclair and X Press 2 to Kevin Saunderson and Richie Hawtin.
Slated for a July 28 release, Global Underground describes Afterhours Ibiza 2 as being built and designed for those after club moments when the need for chill out comes laced with the spark of exhilaration. Spanning three discs, Afterhours Ibiza 2 features music from Junkie XL, Orbital, DJ Rolando, and Pako & Frederik.
DJ's will be happy to hear that Dark Globe return with their latest release for Global Underground, Future's Coming. Famed and lauded for their first major league hit back in 2003 with Break My World and renowned for their stint on Pete Tong's live-from-Miami WMC show in early 2004, Dark Globe's release will see remixes by DJ Fex and Jay Lumen.
Global Underground have also announced the release of a brand spanking new release in the form of a monthly sampler available through iTunes, Beatport & DJ Download. The GU staff will be putting together the hottest new GU Music signings together in an exclusive themed monthly sampler. July's edition will feature music by Trafik, Roland Klinkenberg, and Kevin Swain.
Perhaps the most exciting Global Underground news of the summer is the release of Sasha's Invol2ver. Featuring a formidable 12 tracks, the standard edition features Sasha's unique re-workings of musical giants such as Radiohead's Thom Yorke and Ray La Montagne, plus extras from Ladytron and Telefon Tel Aviv, while the limited edition comes equipped with a second CD of Sasha remix exclusives and ground breaking interpretations.
The album launch party is planned for the Ministry of Sound in London on August 30, with an extended set from Sasha himself and back up from the usual Global Underground suspects Jim Rivers, Anil Chawla and others. If you can't make that then check out Sasha on the 365LIVE! Stage at the Rockit Open Air Festival in the Netherlands on July 26.
