Headliners playing live include Kanye 'hardest working man in hip-hop' West, Moby, the Grammy-laden Mark Ronson and Sam Sparro too. Plus, of course, a list of DJ talent large enough to make any clubber drown in anticipatory drool: Laurent Garnier; Tayo; Sven Väth; Dennis Ferrer; Felix; the Plumps; Dubfire….it's more like a who's who of dance music, to be honest.
No one puts on a large-scale event like Global. It's the biggest event in the UK festival calendar, there's no doubt about it. And with every one of the clubbing super-brands represented, there's no reason anyone should feel left out.
The headliners this year are an even more impressive list that usual: Kanye leads the billing with his Glow In The Dark show (this year's Daft Punk-esque spectacle), with Moby, Sam Sperro and Mark Ronson showing just how wide-reaching Global's appeal is nowadays, fittingly when we consider how many sounds now find their way into the average clubber's music collection.
People looking for more 'traditional' dance music will enjoy the other arenas - Sven Väth's Coccon gets minimal tech, Roger Sanchez's Stealth arena keeps it US house, Spectrum runs the breaks and if you like it harder, you'll love Godskitchen. Prog fans will of course make it to Bedrock, plus the Mixmag stage is always worth checking out to see which up-and-comers they are recommending.
Artist-wise, Global always pulls in all the best in the business - that's the power being a huge brand can give you. 365mag reckons Gui Borrato will be worth seeing live, as will beatboxer Killa Kella. And if you fancy a touch of real rave, why not see Baby D. Cheesy? Yeah….but guaranteed to get everyone going; from young ravers to old stalwarts alike.
