Bon Jovi Jon Bon Jovi and Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan will perform at this year's Live Earth concert, being held in Mumbai, India in December.
The event was staged over four continents over a 24-hour period in 2007, but this year will take place in India, in an effort to bring the issue of climate change to the developing world.
Organiser Kevin Wall told The Associated Press, "India is not the country that created the climate crisis, but it is a developing nation and we need to open doors for local environmental organisations to create consciousness here."
Wall partnered with 'An Inconvenient Truth' man Al Gore to stage the event, and Gore says that India "will be among the leading powers of the global economy in the coming decades."
He says that the country "has a major role to play in leadership by example for the climate crisis and sustainable development."
Bon Jovi is the first western musician to commit to playing the event, with many more local and international acts to be announced in the coming months.
