Laurent Ganier Goes Back to Dancefloor for Innervisions

Laurent Garnier is back making dance-floor beats with his latest release - the fittingly titled Back To My Roots EP - and he's releasing it on one of the most vital quality house labels around, Innervisions.

The story of the A-side, Back To My Roots, is thus: on the evening of Friday 29th February, Garnier was busily rocking Berlin's Panorama Bar to its very foundations. So far, so good, but at 5am the Frenchman still hadn't had enough, so he continued playing for another three hours.

Pet Shop Boys and Madness to Team Up Live

The Pet Shop Boys will play an exclusive one off show in London next month in honour of their former assistant Dainton Connell, who died last year.

The band’s show, at Heaven on May 2nd, will feature a collaboration with Suggs and Carl from Madness.

Connell, who died in a car crash in Moscow last year, was a close friend of the Pet Shop Boys and had appeared in a number of videos with them.

16 Bit Lolitas Make Cielo Debut

On Friday, April 25th 16 Bit Lolitas will make their Cielo debut courtesy of Made Event. Recently awarded Best Club by the Club World Awards, Cielo is home to such DJs as Francois K, Louie Vega, and Kevin Hedge of Blaze.

Over the years, 16 Bit Lolitas' Peter Kriek and Ariaan Olieroock have played at some of the largest festivals and club venues.

In just two short years, dance music's hottest burgeoning talent, Sander van Doorn has debuted in DJ Mag's prestigious Top 100 poll at #32 in 2006, then climbed to #15 in 2007. After a series of successful parties at the Winter Music Conference, Van Doorn triumphantly returns to the U.S. with his recently awarded title of Best Breakthrough Artist from the International Dance Music Awards. Van Doorn will play at such venues as Pacha New York, Ruby Skye in San Francisco, and Vision in Chicago.

The organisation behind the Exit Festival have announced a string of names confirmed to perform at the event's Dance Arena. This year's edition will see some of the most esteemed dance acts heading for the lauded four-day gathering.

The full lineup for the Dance Arena is yet to be announced, but it can already be said that this year's edition comes with a plethora of impressive names.

Carl Craig, Radio Slave to Lineup at MUTEK Fest

The ninth annual MUTEK festival has announced a partial lineup of headliners slated to play in Montreal May 28 through June 1. Since 2000 the not-for-profit organization MUTEK has been presenting a diverse lineup of artists each year at its festival. Past headliners have included Ricardo Villalobos, Jamie Lidell, and Luciano. MUTEK has developed such a following that satellite festivals have been launched in Chile, Mexico, and Argentina. For up-and-coming talent being asked to perform at the festival is a major breakthrough. These artists are able to mingle and share creative ideas with many of their peers.

Matthew Dear Lost His Hard Drive

On April 4th, 2008 Matthew Dear's hard drive was stolen while he was performing at Galapagos Art Space in New York City.

According to Brooklyn Vegan, the source which reported this first, “Dear had been playing a killer set for 2 hours or so. Suddenly he got a message on his computer saying that his hard disk drive was unplugged.” No additional information has been announced but it is quite the house warming gift.

Jamie Lidell, Booka Shade Added to Lollapalooza

Taking place August 1st - 3rd at Grant Park in Chicago, Lollapalooza is now heading into its fourth straight year at this one of a kind outdoor park often referred to as the city's front yard.

Presented by Paxahau, Movement is an annual festival taking place over Memorial Day weekend (May 24-26) in Detroit.
