 Nelly Furtado Nelly Furtado, Gym Class Heroes and Common have been added to the list of performers at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.
Previously announced performers include Timbaland, Kanye West, Fall Out Boy, Chris Brown, Amy Winehouse, the Foo Fighters and Rihanna.
The 24th annual VMAs will air live from the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on Sept. 9, with Timbaland as "maestro," in charge of creating several "show-stopping and unexpected artist collaborations." |

 Beyonce Knowles Justin Timberlake and Beyonce lead the pop parade of nominees for the MTV Video Music Awards with seven nods apiece, it was announced Tuesday.
Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" was nominated for video of the year, as was Timberlake's ambitiously cinematic "What Goes Around ... Comes Around," which co-starred Scarlett Johansson. Also competing in the category are Amy Winehouse's "Rehab," Kanye West's "Stronger," Rihanna's "Umbrella" (featuring Jay-Z) and Justice's "D.A.N.C.E."
Timberlake was also nominated for male artist of the year and "most earth shattering collaboration" for pairing with Timbaland for "Sexy Back." Beyonce was nominated for female artist of the year and for her collaboration with Shakira on "Beautiful Liar." |

 Jennifer Hudson at BET Awards Although the BET Awards doled out trophies to some of entertainment's most celebrated performers, from Beyonce to Jennifer Hudson, it was the show's tributes to living legends and recently departed giants that evoked the most emotion.
Lifetime acheivement honoree Diana Ross urged younger performers to "keep it classy" and refrain from foul behavoir. A tearful Patti LaBelle joined an all-star tribute Tuesday nigth to R&B crooner Gerald Levert, who died last year. And fists pumped in the air as hip-hop group Public Enemy honored the late Godfather of Soul, James Brown, with a stirring rendition of one of his landmark hits, "Say It Loud (I'm Black and I'm Proud)." |

 Kenny Chesney Kenny Chesney collected his third consecutive entertainer of the year trophy Tuesday as the Academy of Country Music also paid tribute to a youngster and some oldsters.
The academy honored veteran George Strait, newcomer Carrie Underwood and gave an unprecedented 14th vocal duo award to Brooks & Dunn.
Brooks & Dunn were up against some stiff competition from Sugarland, Montgomery Gentry, Big & Rich and The Wreckers, and Ronnie Dunn fretted before the show that the pair had to lose "sooner or later." |
