Jennifer Kreisberg (Tuscarora) is among a diverse group of independent musicians named as winners of the 7th Annual Independent Music Awards  Jennifer’s wide-range vocals and harmonies bring to life the sounds of her Native American ancestors. For the past 18 Years she has toured with the world renowned trio Ulali. She has shared the stage with performers such as Buffy Saint-Marie, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Ritchie Havens, Sting, Floyd Westerman, and Charlie Hill.

The list of nominees for the 2007 Shortlist Prize have been announced, and there’s 54 on the list. Albums from Klaxons, MIA, Kings of Leon, Justice and LCD Soundsystem have received nods, as have Feist, Spoon and Fionn Regan.

The albums released last year appear on a ‘long list’ of nominees which will be reduced to 10 finalists in the coming weeks. This year’s panel include Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol and Ronnie Vannucci of The Killers.

Fifty-four albums were announced Dec. 21 as the nominees for the 2007 Shortlist Music Prize, which will be handed out early next year.

The prize recognizes albums released between January and November 2007 that have yet to be certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America for U.S. shipments of 500,000 units.

Among the nominees are Wilco, Feist, M.I.A., the Arcade Fire, Justice, LCD Soundsystem, Spoon, Eddie Vedder, Iron & Wine, Kings Of Leon, PJ Harvey, Stars, Underworld and Robert Pollard.

The Band also gets career honour.

Burt Bacharach is set to get a lifetime achievement Grammy in February.

Also set to win the award are The Band, Doris Day and jazz singer Cab Calloway.

Classical violinist Itzhak Perlman, jazz drummer Max Roach and bluegrass banjo player Earl Scruggs are also set to be honoured, reports ABC news.

Atlantic recording artist Shadows Fall has received a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance for the song "Redemption" off their critically acclaimed label debut, Threads Of Life.

Clearly a leader in their genre, this marks the band's second Grammy nomination in the category, following their nod at the 2006 awards for "What Drives The Weak" off of their Century Media release, The War Within.

And Flaming Lips, Rufus Wainwright and Vedder tipped for Oscar glory

Eddie Vedder and Shakira have been nominated for Golden Globes, to take place January 13 in Los Angeles.

Vedder received two nods, one for Best Original Score for his contribution to the Sean Penn-directed ‘Into The Wild’, which he wrote with Michael Brook and Kaki King, as well as a Best Original Song for ‘Guaranteed’ which also featured in the movie.

Following Pete Wentz’s rant against the “fifty year old white” men Trent Reznor has called for the Grammys to be scrapped.

Writing on his the NIN’s front man echoed Wentz in his condemnation of the pnale who pick the nominees.

Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz has angrily responded to being overlooked for a single 2008 Grammy Award on the band's blog.

The singer, who on Thursday (December 6) fulfilled an obligation to play People Magazine's Grammy nominations party, commented on the band's lack of nods in a blog post entitled "got bitterness? vs. a revelation on true connection (and the award goes to)."

Two days after he died suddenly in a Los Angeles hotel room, Texas rapper Chad "Pimp C" Butler has received a Grammy nomination.

Butler and partner Bernard "Bun B" Freeman, who performed together as UGK (Underground Kingz), were nominated for their collaboration with hip-hop duo OutKast on the tune Int'l Players Anthem (I Choose You).
