Yoko Ono Sues Over Song in Movie Challenging Evolution

Yoko Ono is suing the producers of a movie that challenges the concept of Darwinian evolution, saying they used the song "Imagine" without her permission and led the blogosphere to accuse her of "selling out."

In a lawsuit filed in federal court in Manhattan, Ono accuses the producers of "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" of suggesting to viewers that those who guard John Lennon's legacy somehow authorized or sponsored the film.

Rapper Jay-Z and his long term girlfriend Beyonce Knowles are now officially husband and wife after filing for a marriage licence.

According to a New York town clerk, the couple, who have been romatically linked since 2002, filed for the licence last Friday.

The couple had held a private ceremony in New York earlier this month but wouldn’t confirm reports that they had tied the knot.

Ramones Drummer's Lawsuit for Royalties Dismissed

A federal judge has tossed out a lawsuit by a former Ramones drummer who says he was cheated out of royalties.

US District Judge Shira Scheindlin said in a ruling Friday that a contract Richard "Richie Ramone" Reinhardt signed when he performed with the Ramones between 1983 and 1987 clearly covered digital uses of his songs.

Richie Sambora Pleads Out DUI Case

Richie Sambora struck a deal with prosecutors Tuesday just hours after they filed drunken driving charges against him, pleading no contest to one misdemeanor count of driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit.

In turn, the district attorney agreed to drop a second charge — driving under the influence of alcohol — against the Bon Jovi guitarist, said Farrah Emami, a district attorney spokeswoman.

Footage of John Lennon smoking pot, writing songs and discussing putting the hallucinogenic drug LSD in President Richard Nixon's tea is the focus of a court case starting in Boston next week over whether the video should be made public.

The case pits Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, against Lawrence, Massachusetts-based World Wide Video, which claims ownership of nine hours of raw footage of the former Beatle and Ono that was filmed just weeks before the "Fab Four" broke up in 1970.

Jury Dismissed a Lawsuit against Kid Rock

A jury has dismissed a lawsuit against Kid Rock brought by a woman who claimed the rocker roughed her up outside his Michigan recording studio.

A jury on Friday dismissed a claim by 29-year-old Kelly Ann Kozlowski for $25,000 in damages.

Kozlowski sued the 37-year-old Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, after the incident last year in Clarkston. Authorities investigated but did not bring charges.

Britney Spears to Pay The Lawyers at Least $372,500

A Los Angeles County Superior Court commissioner has authorized the lawyers who represent Britney Spears and her family in various legal cases to be paid more than $372,500 for their services through March 31.

Commissioner Reva Goetz on Thursday also delayed action on a motion to put Britney Spears' companies and business entities in her trust.

The gangsta-posturing rapper, who has extolled his bad-boy past in hit albums like Trouble and Konvicted, is, according to a new report on The Smoking Gun, more hoodwinker than hoodlum.

The investigative site has dug into the rapper's claims, first spouted during his promotion for his 2004 debut, Trouble, that he served four and a half years in a Georgia prison in the 1990s as the "ringleader of a notorious car theft operation" and owned four chop shops frequented by "celebrities and drug dealers."

Restraining Order Extended Against Britney Spears' Friend

A temporary restraining order against Britney Spears' friend Sam Lutfi was extended Wednesday after an attorney told a judge all parties had agreed on the matter.

Lutfi was not at the hearing, during which an attorney for Spears' father gave Superior Court Judge Aviva K. Bobb a document with Lutfi's signature.

Police Seek Child Endangerment Charge in Sambora Case

Police are asking the district attorney to file a misdemeanor child endangerment charge against Richie Sambora, who had two children in his car when he was arrested for investigation of drunken driving last month.

Authorities haven't released the names of a woman and two girls who were passengers in Richie Sambora's car when the Bon Jovi guitarist was stopped March 25.
