Tom Waits and Other Stars to Judge Songwriting Competition
Tom Waits
Tom Waits, Robert Smith, Black Francis, Ray Davies, Loretta Lynn and Jerry Lee Lewis are among the renowned artists who will judge the 2008 International Songwriting Competition.

Also weighing in on this year's contest are Neil Finn, Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20, Chaka Khan, KT Tunstall and "Weird Al" Yankovic.

Aspiring songwriters from around the world can enter the competition by submitting their songs before the October 15, 2008 deadline.

The singer has revealed new details about her highly anticipated forthcoming album.

Lily Allen said that the tentative title for the follow-up to her highly successful 2006 debut is 'Stuck On The Naughty Step'.

“In England, when kids are naughty, they get sent to sit on the naughty step,” she explained. “Like a timeout, you know? I feel like I’m stuck in a hole where people say, ‘Lily, you’re bad. Go think about what you’ve done.’"

The Scottish musician has filled in her summer US tour schedule as she continues to lay down roadwork behind last year's "Drastic Fantastic."

KT Tunstall kicks off the run Aug. 1 in Atlanta, with 20 shows currently lined up through that month. Singer/songwriter Martha Wainwright will open many of the shows.

Latin music pop star Shakira is in talks with concert promoter Live Nation for a contract, according to people familiar with the talks.

The Colombian-born songstress, whose 2006 hit "Hips Don't Lie" was No.1 in the US, is expected to complete a multimillion-dollar deal with Live Nation before the end of the year, after months of talks.

The Beatles were at the height of their immense popularity when the tape was recorded at Scottish Television studios on April 30, 1964.

The Culture Club singer, Boy George whose real name is George O'Dowd, has canceled his summer plans after US authorities denied him a visa to enter the country.

O'Dowd, 47, had planned to officially kick off his 25-city tour in Aspen, CO, on July 10, and was to throw in a free concert at the New York City Department of Sanitation's Family Day in August. He worked for the department in 2006 while performing court-ordered community service in a drug case.

The former Beatle has announced that he will perform at Quebec City's 400th anniversary celebration this summer.

Sir Paul McCartney will help the Canadian city mark its fourth century at a concert on July 20 on the Plains of Abraham.

The show will be McCartney's only North American performance this year and is his first concert in Canada since 2005, reports the Vancouver Sun.

Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello has revealed details of his forthcoming solo album.

The politically active guitarist is set to release 'The Fabled City' in the US on September 30. It is the follow-up to his 2007 solo debut 'One Man Revolution'.

The album includes 11 tracks and guest appearances by System Of A Down's Serj Tankian and country crooner Shooter Jennings, reports Billboard.

The track entitled 'Running Man: Nike + Original Run' was commissioned by Nike, in order to provide an inspiring audio accompaniment for running enthusiasts.

The hip-hop turntablist turned dance DJ, who regularly tours with Kanye West, explained he is not a jogger himself - but was happy to help out those who regularly pound the streets.
